Description
Dr. Thomas Wayne (Kip) McKean II is a world-renowned preacher, missionary, reformer, theologian, and humanitarian. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 31, 1954, to Dr. Thomas W. and “Kim” McKean, while his father was away on “sea duty.” Through the years, his beloved father rose to the rank of Admiral and became the Inspector General of the United States Navy Medical and Dental Corps.
Kip was baptized as a 17-year-old freshman on April 11, 1972, at the University of Florida through the efforts of the 14th Street Church of Christ. He has been happily married to Dr. Elena Garcia-Bengochea since December 11, 1976. Kip initially wrote and published the ground-breaking personal Bible study series entitled First Principles in 1980, which the Spirit used to propel the then fledgling Boston Movement – renamed in 1993 the International Churches of Christ (ICOC) – into 171 nations by 2001. Kip’s godly and compassionate vision for the evangelization of the nations in a generation was propelled by his revolutionary theological stance of SAVED = CHRISTIAN = DISCIPLE that continues to impact the world.
Fast forward to the 21st Century and having to “start over,” God carried Kip and Elena to Portland, Oregon (2003) which led to the Spirit creating the SoldOut Discipling Movement (2006), more widely known as the International Christian Churches (ICC)! In 2007, Kip led 42 Portland Disciples to plant in Los Angeles the City of Angels ICC. In the ensuing years, the ICC has spread into 66 nations and counting. God’s hand also powerfully guided Kip to found MERCYworldwide – the benevolent arm of the ICC (2009), the International College of Christian Ministries (2012), the SoldOut Press International Publishing House (2016), the McKean Scholarship Foundation (2020), the video-based Good News Network (2020), and The Jesus Study Series (2023)!
Collected in this book are Kip’s three Revolution Through Restoration Articles detailing first-hand the miracles, the heroics, and setbacks that led to the Spirit creating the Boston (ICOC) Movement, and in time, the Portland (ICC) Movement. As Kip wrote for years at the conclusion of every weekly Good News Email to encourage his ICC Family, “And to God be all the glory!”
